Job Overview

Applications are invited for the post of Equipment Driver Technician based at Ysbyty Bryn Y Neuadd, Llanfairfechan.

The North West Wales Community Equipment Service provides community equipment (mobility aids) to hospitals and members of the public across North West Wales. The service is a partnership between Gwynedd, Conwy, and Anglesey County Councils and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

The post holder will provide community equipment (mobility aids) to members of the public and community hospitals, offering advice, technical information, and support to practitioners and therapists on equipment. The role includes providing a timely delivery and collection service, decontamination, and ensuring compliance with the National Minimum Standards for Community Equipment Services in Wales.

Main duties of the job

  • The delivery, fitting, and collection of items in the community according to clinicians' specifications and manufacturers’ guidelines.
  • Effective communication with relevant teams, patients, and carers, including those with barriers to understanding.
  • Planning routes efficiently in coordination with office staff and considering patient/carer needs.
  • Decontaminating equipment upon return and performing administrative tasks as required.
  • Ability to speak Welsh is desirable; applications from English and Welsh speakers are equally welcome.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential: Good general education including knowledge of MS Office; B Tec Level 3 in Disabled Living Trusted Assessor Course or relevant experience.

Desirable: Driving qualification beyond standard license.

Experience

Essential: Experience assembling equipment and following assembly instructions.

Desirable: Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations including COSHH.

Aptitude & Abilities

Essential: Ability to prioritize workload, respond to urgent situations, work independently and as part of a team, and assess risks in the community.

Desirable: Meets all criteria listed in the attached job description/person specification.
