Job description

Equine Vet Opportunity – Award-Winning Practice in Beautiful Shropshire

Award-winning, RCVS-accredited independent equine practice with a strong reputation and personal, client-focused care
Fantastic location on the Shropshire/Welsh border with easy access to cities and the coast
Diverse and exciting caseload – from companion ponies to elite competition horses
Excellent package including generous salary up to £60,000, beautiful family/pet-friendly accommodation, company vehicle, and CPD/certificate funding
Supportive, experienced team with advanced practitioners, certificate holders, and a strong focus on professional growth

Are you an experienced equine vet ready to take the reins in a practice that truly values quality over quantity?

I am thrilled to present a fantastic opportunity for an Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join a highly regarded, RCVS-accredited, and award-winning independent clinic nestled in the stunning ceremonial county of Shropshire. You’ll be based just a stone’s throw from Shrewsbury, Chester, Birmingham, and the Welsh coast – offering the perfect balance of countryside charm and city connections.

This isn’t just another job. This is a chance to work in a small but mighty clinic, purpose-built with an operating theatre, air-conditioned exam rooms, cutting-edge diagnostics, in-house lab (yes, including ACTH testing!), and outstanding lameness facilities. The team? Exceptionally friendly, incredibly supportive, and deeply passionate. Their dedication has earned them numerous business awards and recognition as a Veterinary Nurse Training Practice.

Your future colleagues include certificate holders and an advanced practitioner in Orthopaedic Surgery and Equine Dentistry, who’s always available for mentorship and support. The caseload is delightfully varied – from beloved ponies to elite competition horses – and every patient is treated like gold.

The role is primarily ambulatory, but clinic-based days can be tailored to your interests and career goals. Out-of-hours? Quiet and well-managed, with calls screened by RVNs or a senior vet, so your time off stays yours.

You'll receive a generous salary package, a beautiful home (yes – pets and families welcome!), a company vehicle, and the opportunity to pursue further qualifications fully supported by the clinic. The current rota is 1 in 4, moving soon to a family-friendly 1 in 5.

My client is ideally looking for someone with 5+ years’ equine experience, but if you are earlier in your career and passionate about developing in equine practice, don't hesitate to reach out.

Interested? Let’s chat in more detail – this could be the perfect next step in your veterinary journey.

The Package:

• Attractive Salary up to £60,000 DOE
• Company Vehicle
• Accommodation – either a barn conversion or cottage, both rural with garden and pet/family friendly
• Work iPad and iPhone provided
• Annual eyecare examinations
• Certificate funded (following probation period)
• £1000 CPD Budget
• One day at BEVA congress
• BEVA, RCVS, VDS Memberships
• My healthy advantage and Bright HR app and support
• Visa sponsorship available
