Job summary

The Bedford College Group is seeking a Practical Instructor in Equine to join the Animal Science department. You will deliver practical equine sessions, prepare materials and assess learners to help them achieve course objectives.

You will care for horses, support centre operations and manage resources while promoting safety and high professional standards. We value safeguarding, teamwork and continuous improvement, and expect flexible, weekend-capable applicants with a current driving licence

Qualifications

• Holds a Level 3 qualification in Horse Management and BHS Level 2 Foundation Groom, with recent practical equine industry experience.
• Experience in teaching, training and learner support in a practical environment.
• Strong horse care knowledge, yard management and safe working procedures.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging practical equine sessions, prepare learning materials and schemes of work, assess learner performance and provide feedback.
• Care for horses, monitor welfare, assist with equine centre operations and facilities management.
• Prepare horses and equipment for activities, maintain inventories and ensure resources meet college standards.
• Promote safety, perform risk assessments and support student safety and behaviour management.
• Collaborate with colleagues and support marketing, recruitment and college events, upholding safeguarding and inclusion policies.
