Job summary

The University of Manchester seeks an experienced Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Partner to strategically implement EDI initiatives across the university. You will advise on policies, work with departments, and help embed inclusive practices for staff and students.

Job description

The University of Manchester is seeking an experienced Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Partner to join our team. This role will act as a strategic partner, ensuring the effective implementation of our EDI strategies and initiatives across the university. The successful candidate will provide expert advice and support on EDI matters, working collaboratively with various departments to foster an inclusive and equitable environment for all colleagues and students.

  • developing and implementing the EDI Framework and action plans in alignment with the University strategy
  • providing expert advice on EDI-related policies, practices, and legislation.
  • collaborating with a broad range of departments to integrate EDI principles into all aspects of university operations.
  • making data-driven, evidence-based recommendations to inform EDI initiatives and measure their impact.
  • fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging. promoting diversity and equality throughout the university community.

About You

Essential Criteria
  • in-depth knowledge of EDI legislation, best practices, and current trends.
  • proven experience in an EDI role, preferably within a higher education or public sector environment.
  • strong strategic planning and project management skills.
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, including senior stakeholders.
  • strong business partnering skills and experience, with a track record of building effective relationships and collaborating across departments.
Desirable Criteria
  • relevant qualifications in EDI, HR, or a related field are desirable.
  • passionate about EDI and committed to making a positive impact.
