Job description

EPITAXY PROCESS ENGINEER / SENIOR ENGINEER
BASED EAST KILBRIDE / GREATER GLASGOW PERMANENT JOB SALARY RANGE CGBP40-60,000

With bases globally and in the Greater Glasgow region of Scotland, GRW Talent's clients is an independent manufacturer of III-V photonic devices who provide custom foundry services in InP, GaAs, GaN and GaSb on 2", 3" and 4" wafers, and have ongoing, active research and development programmes in various technology areas in partnership with private and public bodies. They are at the very sharp end of laser chip development for next generation AI data centres.

The business is experiencing strong commercial and production ramp growth across all sites - Scotland, Sweden, USA and India. With increased demand, a steady customer base, advanced super high volume chip manufacturing partner and a move towards more consolidated products / production runs, they now need to recruit a Epitaxy or Senior Epitaxy Engineer.

The Epitaxy Process Engineer will own all MOCVD processes (InP/GaaS) - including but not limited to process library, SPC, daily checks, process development, optimisation and sustaining. Including all related metrology. You will drive process readiness for production to continually improve NPI and manufacturing efficiency and effectiveness, and support transition of new processes and products from R&D to production. You will own process yield and support end-to-end yield improvement through improved process integration and collaboration with other process engineers, product engineering and R&D. Key responsibilities include:
  • Establish continuous improvement of product and mechanical yields by process characterisation, standardisation on best practices and application of effective SPC.
  • Take ownership for process equipment, and report KPI's.
  • Own and deliver improvements in assigned process / equipment responsibilities.
  • Project manage new processes in conjunction with Development Engineering.
  • Develop, from concept through qualification to production, new processes: e.g. Compound semiconductor processing on 3" and 4" substrates
  • Ensure engineering documentation and procedures comply with ISO 9001 and most demanding customer requirements.
  • Work as part of Operations team to ensure timely delivery of high quality products.
Educated to degree calibre in an Engineering or Scientific discipline, you have proven hands on Epitaxy / MOCVD growth process engineering experience. This will suit someone from a R+D or volume GaaS or InP wafer fabrication background; we can consider hands-on candidates coming out of university or R+D production labs running products and reactors. You will need experience of developing/implementing new MOCVD growth processes and some experience in the use of Aixtron MOCVD reactors.

This represents a superb opportunity to join a highly ambitious global semis/photonics business developing leading edge technology for current and future datacentre power control. A solid base salary of GBP40-60,000 per annum is accentuated by a good benefits package. We will consider sponsorship for candidates outside of the UK.
