Job summary

Newcastle University is seeking a Research Technician for a Cancer Research UK funded project at the Wolfson Childhood Cancer Research Centre. You will help investigate super-enhancer roles in B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia using CRISPR, CUT&TAG and ATAC-seq on patient-derived models.

The role covers molecular biology, cell culture and epigenomic profiling, with responsibility for COSHH compliance, stock control and contributing to LEAF award renewal.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of Health and Safety procedures in a laboratory setting.
• Experience with PCR, sterile cell culture and nucleotide isolation.
• Excellent team-working skills and ability to work independently.
• Willingness to learn new techniques as required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day experimental work with patient-derived leukemia models.
• Support epigenomic profiling techniques used by the team (supervised initially).
• Assist CRISPR gene editing experiments (supervised initially).
• Maintain accurate records of all work under guidance of staff.
• Ensure COSHH/BIOCOSHH forms are up to date and equipment maintained.
