Job summary

QinetiQ in Shoeburyness is seeking a GL – Ops Environmental Test responsible for leading ETC operations, ensuring safe trial delivery, and meeting regulatory requirements across UK defence projects.

This on-site role offers 37 hours per week, with budget ownership, strategic growth for ETC facilities, and a strong focus on safety, inclusivity, and continuous improvement within a high-hazard environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive operational leadership experience in high-hazard or regulated environments.
• Proven experience with environmental testing and related processes.
• Demonstrated experience with Ordnance, Munitions and Explosives (OME).
• Track record of developing, coaching and line-managing teams.

Responsibilities

• Leading Environmental Testing Centre (ETC) operations and acting as focal point for testing capability and facility performance.
• Ensuring safe, compliant trial delivery with signatory authority and adherence to QinetiQ, regulatory and UKAS requirements.
• Driving continuous improvement to enhance facility availability, efficiency, capacity, and quality.
• Managing financial performance including budget ownership, forecasting, risk management and stakeholder engagement.
• Developing and implementing strategic growth plans for ETC facilities in line with business needs.
