Job description

RSK Response has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Technician to join our growing team in Uckfield, UK.

RSK Response is a business unit within the RSK Group that specialises in 24/7 environmental incident response, inspection, and maintenance services.

Responsibilities
  1. Development and adherence to specific health & safety risk assessments related to work activities.
  2. Rapid response to environmental incidents in urban and rural settings.
  3. Assessment of pollution risks and application of techniques for containing and recovering oils or contaminants.
  4. Environmental monitoring and sampling activities.
  5. Engaging with clients and co-contractors to determine appropriate technical responses.
  6. Coordination with technical and managerial teams regarding incidents and projects.
  7. Effective report writing and information management.
  8. Waste management and Duty of Care compliance.
  9. Inspection and maintenance of oil storage areas, electrical transformer bunds, water separators, interceptors, and related infrastructure.
  10. Decontamination and deep cleaning tasks.
  11. Maintenance of equipment and vehicles.
  12. Stock management.
  13. Drainage and utilities inspection.
  14. Working safely within electrical substations and high-hazard sites.
Additional Information
  • Work involves a 24/7 response service; on-call rota work is required and compensated.
  • Strong time management, organisational, and communication skills are essential.
  • Travel across Scotland, and occasionally England and Wales, is required.
  • Occasional overnight stays may be necessary.
  • Incident response training and other development opportunities are provided.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Full, clean driving license (essential).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (essential).
  • Experience in utilities, civil, or construction sites (desirable).
  • Excavator/dumper certification (desirable).
  • Basic project management skills (desirable).
  • BSc in a relevant environmental field (desirable).
  • CSCS certification (desirable).
  • First aid certification (desirable).
