Environmental Team Lead
Our client, a leading independent Oil & Gas operator based in Norwich, is currently seeking an Environmental Team Lead to join their QSSHE department. This full-time, permanent position involves working in a collaborative and dynamic team environment. Some travel to other sites and offshore visits may be required.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Extensive experience in the offshore upstream Oil & Gas sector, operating at Advisor or Team Leader level.
- Breadth of experience including offshore production, subsea, drilling, and well intervention operations.
- Knowledge of UK environmental regulatory frameworks and influence strategies.
- Understanding of emissions management and trading schemes related to offshore activities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Degree in Environmental Management, Engineering, or related field.
- ISO14001 auditor training and certification.
- Familiarity with SCR2015, PORTAL, EEMS, ETSWAP, and SECR.
- Ability to build relationships with stakeholders to influence and collaborate effectively.
- Pragmatic approach with integrity.
- Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage permits such as OPPC, ETS, and Chemicals for offshore operations.
- Review permit submissions to regulators.
- Provide environmental support to onshore and offshore assets.
- Contribute to terminal environmental operations and produce environmental plans aligned with ISO14001.
- Lead maintenance of ISO14001:2015 and conduct scheduled audits and inspections.
- Manage environmental SEMS documents and ensure timely reporting (EEMS, OSPAR, OPPC, SECR).
- Represent the company in external environmental affairs.
- Advise on environmental policies and legislative compliance.
- Monitor legislative changes and assess impacts on the business.
- Review personnel and contractor performance regarding environmental standards.
- Conduct site visits and support investigations into environmental events.
- Ensure environmental requirements, risks, controls, and mitigations are understood and implemented.
- Develop and deliver training and advisory materials.
- Maintain OPEPs and participate in the IMT.
- Contribute to the HSE budget and project environmental oversight.
Safety & Environmentally Critical Courses:
- Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences
- NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
- Incident Investigator Course
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Leadership or supervisory experience.
- At least 10 years in the Oil and Gas industry.
- Full membership of IEMA or similar.
- Experience with onshore terminals, COMAH, NORM Management, RPS.
- MSc in Environmental Management or related field.
