A global engineering staffing provider in Norwich is seeking an experienced Environmental Team Lead to manage environmental support for onshore and offshore operations. The successful candidate will lead a team of Advisors, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and developing key initiatives towards achieving ISO14001 standards. This role requires a strong background in environmental management, team leadership, and experience in the Oil & Gas sector.

Job description

NES Fircroft is working on behalf of a leading Oil & Gas operator; we are seeking an Environmental Team Lead to join a collaborative and dynamic QSSHE team.

Leading a team of dedicated Environmental Advisors, you will be responsible for providing competent and proactive environmental support to onshore and offshore producing assets. Ensure all environmental requirements are fully understood, risks, controls, and mitigations are identified and implemented in a timely, economical, and effective manner, covering operations through to decommissioning, including projects, drilling, infill, etc.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage all OPPC, ETS, Chemical permits for offshore operations.
  • Provide technical input into Terminal Environmental Operations.
  • Develop an Environmental plan outlining key initiatives and milestones supporting ISO14001.
  • Coordinate and lead the maintenance of ISO14001:2015 compliance.
  • Conduct scheduled audits and inspections.
  • Maintain ownership of the Environmental SEMS documents.
  • Ensure timely submission of all internal and external reports such as EEMS, OSPAR, OPPC, SECR.
  • Advise on environmental policy and legislation compliance.
  • Monitor and review legislative changes and assess their impact on the business.
  • Review personnel and contractor performance regarding environmental standards through site visits, inspections, and audits.
  • Conduct site visits to support investigations into incidents, root cause analysis, and preventative measures.
  • Participate as a member of the IMT.
  • Contribute to the environmental component of the HSE budget.
  • Manage the Environmental Advisors team.
  • Provide input and oversight on environmental aspects of project planning and supervise the Projects Environmental Advisor.
Experience & Qualifications:
  • Degree in Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • MSc in Environmental Management or similar preferred.
  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and Incident Investigator course.
  • Extensive offshore upstream Oil & Gas experience at Advisor or Team Leader level.
  • Broad experience including offshore production, subsea, drilling, and well intervention operations.
  • Knowledge of UK environmental regulatory framework.
  • Understanding of emissions management and trading schemes related to offshore operations.
  • ISO14001 auditor trained.
  • Working knowledge of SCR2015, PORTAL, EEMS, ETSWAP (or UK equivalents), and SECR.
  • Onshore terminal and COMAH experience is desirable.
  • Willingness to travel to other sites and offshore as needed.
