Environmental & Sustainability Manager (Supply Chains)

We are delighted to partner with a leading global retail organization to appoint a seasoned Environmental & Sustainability (Project) Manager who will create and implement long‑term sustainability initiatives. The role will ensure the business remains compliant, responsible and highly competitive.

Location & Contract

Contract – 6 months (initial duration)
Location – London (Hybrid)
Start – ASAP / Urgent
Daily Rate – £300–£370 (inside IR35, via Umbrella)

Role Overview

The role is based out of the UK HQ in London. As the manager you will support long‑term sustainability targets, manage ad‑hoc projects, oversee EPR schemes, maintain reporting systems, and act as the environmental & sustainability SME across the business.

Responsibilities
  • Support long‑term targets aligned with business sustainability objectives while also supporting similar ad‑hoc projects.
  • Monitor compliance regulation updates and policies alongside internal teams, communicating change internally.
  • Manage extended producer responsibility (EPR) schemes and facilitate vendor training.
  • Act as SME for environmental and sustainability initiatives across the business.
  • Enhance sustainability reporting systems in conjunction with internal IT teams.
  • Oversee sustainability projects (monitoring progress, evaluating impact, ensuring timely on‑budget completion).
  • Set clear, measurable sustainability targets and identify areas for improvement.
  • Produce reports for senior management on initiative effectiveness.
  • Represent the business on key compliance projects (e.g. deforestation).
Required Skills & Experience
  • Extensive experience in sustainable development, environmental management, supply chains and project management.
  • Up‑to‑date knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability best practice.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic and holistic thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage cross‑departmental projects effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to produce robust reports.
