Job description

Position Overview:

The Environmental and Sustainability Manager is responsibleto lead and implement Think Hire’s internal environmental and sustainability strategy, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and driving improvements in sustainable operations. The role involves working across departments to embed sustainability practices, reduce environmental impact, and achieve long-term sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Leadership

  • Support the development, lead the implementation, and review the company’s sustainability strategy.
  • Design and deliver initiatives that reduce carbon emissions, improve resource efficiency, and support net-zero goals
  • Advise senior management on climate-related risks and opportunities.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations.
  • Review Environmental Policy at least annually
  • Maintain accurate environmental management records.
  • Conduct environmental audits and risk assessments.

Project Management

  • Communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders across different divisions
  • Oversee sustainability projects from concept to implementation, ensuring measurable impact.
  • Manage budgets, progress reporting and timelines for projects.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage employees and partners through campaigns, training, and events that build a culture of sustainability

Data & Performance Monitoring

  • Develop and maintain internal records and performance reports to track progress against KPIs, regulatory obligations, and net zero targets
  • Monitor and analyse energy generation, consumption, and system performance data across all renewable assets to identify trends and opportunities for optimisation
  • Ensure company accreditations are maintained: ISO, RISQS, Considerate Constructors, Ecovardis, Supply Chain Sustainability School and Positive Planet

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in environmental management.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and standards (e.g., ISO 14001).
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Proficiency in sustainability reporting tools (e.g., GRI, CDP).

Desirable:

  • Membership in a professional environmental body (e.g., IEMA, CIWEM).
  • Experience with ESG frameworks or CSR programs.
  • Knowledge of climate risk assessments or biodiversity strategies.
