An established engineering and construction contractor with a strong pipeline in power transmission and renewable energy is seeking a proactive Environmental Specialist to support key infrastructure projects across Scotland and the wider UK.

This is a permanent opportunity suited to a motivated environmental professional with a strong background in compliance, site monitoring, and sustainability within the infrastructure or energy sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as the environmental lead across assigned power and renewables construction sites, ensuring full compliance with regulatory, client, and company standards.

Develop and implement Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs), and site-specific environmental procedures.

Conduct regular environmental inspections and audits, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions.

Provide technical support to project teams and subcontractors on environmental best practices, obligations, and licensing requirements.

Coordinate environmental monitoring activities, including noise, dust, water, and ecological assessments, and interpret findings for project reporting.

Liaise with environmental regulators (e.g., SEPA), clients, and statutory bodies throughout project lifecycle.

Deliver environmental toolbox talks and awareness training for site personnel.

Support sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives within the project scope.

Maintain up-to-date documentation on environmental performance, permits, incidents, and audit outcomes.

Candidate Profile:

Degree-qualified in Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.

Minimum of 3 years experience in an environmental role within infrastructure, utilities, energy, or construction sectors.

In-depth understanding of UK and Scottish environmental legislation and compliance frameworks (e.g., EIA, SEPA, protected species licensing).

Confident working across multiple project sites, managing environmental risk and driving best practice on the ground.

Skilled in stakeholder engagement, auditing, and environmental documentation.

Membership of IEMA, CIWEM, or a similar professional body is advantageous.

Full UK driving licence required due to regional site travel.
