North Norfolk District Council is seeking an Environmental Services Team Leader to oversee waste and street cleansing operations and to drive high-quality outcomes for our communities and businesses.
You will manage contractors, lead a team of Officers, and ensure statutory obligations are met while delivering our ambitious environmental objectives in a customer-focused setting.
We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for helping us to create a better, cleaner environment for North Norfolk and doing the right thing for our communities, businesses and the environment.
Our Environmental Services team are responsible for delivering a range of front facing services, including in some of Norfolk’s prime visitor destinations, covering waste collections, street cleaning and grounds maintenance.
Each day in Environmental Services is different - a new query, service issue or work request that you will help resolve. You will lead on the monitoring and management of the work of our contractors, ensuring the required performance is delivered and high quality outcomes achieved.
You will lead a team of professional Officers, ensuring that the team and the Council meet their statutory obligations and ambitious objectives.
We are seeking an assertive and self motivated professional with experience of waste and recycling services and/or street cleansing and a commitment to high quality public service.
As the Environmental Services Team Leader, leadership skills and the ability to motivate people are essential in this role. You'll have the ability to manage your own and the team’s time effectively, whilst growing and nurturing the team’s talents.
You will have a detailed understanding of the legislation under which our services are delivered and, drawing on experience gained in a similar role, will bring a positive, solution focussed approach, with the confidence to resolve issues as and when they may arise, with an awareness of the wider organisational context.
As you will be working in a customer orientated environment, you must have the ability to build trusted relationships with customers, contractors and stakeholders. You’ll be a confident communicator, with strong interpersonal skills, delivering professional and helpful customer service, even in the face of demanding and testing situations.
