Job summary

Harborough District Council is recruiting a Project Officer to support the management and delivery of major environmental projects across the organisation. The role focuses on mobilisation of contracts and supporting food waste initiatives and Grounds Maintenance projects.

You will work with operational staff to apply project management principles, communicate effectively with stakeholders and meet challenging targets. Some meetings/events may occur outside normal hours.

The Environmental Services Team, covers Waste Management, Street Cleansing and Grounds Maintenance and has been working on some significant projects. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Project Officer to join us and continue this important work. The projects range from mobilisation of a contract and supporting the implementation of food waste and smaller projects on Grounds Maintenance. The successful candidate will join the team at an exciting time and will play a key role in supporting the development and delivery of our programme of major projects.

In this role, you will support the management and delivery of major projects across the organisation and have an opportunity to get involved in a range of initiatives through the full project life cycle, influencing projects from the beginning and seeing their impacts delivered.

You will need to be a team player with a ‘can – do’ approach; committed to meeting challenging targets and ensuring project management principles are applied, but also working with the operational staff to deliver these. To succeed, you’ll ideally have experience of working on projects within a public sector setting. You will have strong organisational and communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with key stakeholders.

You will need to be able to occasionally attend meetings and events out of normal office hours, notice of this will be given.
