Job summary

Newark and Sherwood District Council is recruiting an LGV Driver to deliver all waste services across the district, including general waste, recycling, garden and trade waste, and the glass recycling service. The role is permanent, 37 hours per week, with shifts 6.00am–2.00pm Monday to Thursday and 6.00am–1:30pm Friday.

You will drive council vehicles, maintain them in clean, safe condition, hold a clean Category C licence and a valid Driver CPC, and work unsociable hours when required.

Qualifications

• Valid Category C driving licence is essential.
• Driver CPC Card and Qualification required.
• Experience in similar environment is beneficial but not essential.
• Must be physically fit to work unsocial hours.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate council heavy and light goods vehicles including refuse collection, recycling, garden and trade waste.
• Ensure vehicles are clean and in good working order and comply with legal requirements.
• Deliver waste services across the district with professionalism.

Environmental Services LGV Driver

Permanent, 37 hours per week working 6.00am - 2.00pm Monday - Thursday, 6.00am - 1:30pm Friday

Salary NS8 £32,046 - £33,673 per annum

We are now recruiting for a LGV Driver to help deliver all waste services to homes across the district including general waste collection, recycling, garden and trade waste along with the glass recycling service.

You will drive and have responsibility for any of the council’s heavy goods and light goods vehicles including refuse collection, recycling or road sweeping. Ensuring that the vehicles are kept clean and in good working order at all times to meet the standards set down in law, with respect to legal vehicle operation is essential.

The positions will entail working unsociable hours in all weathers.

You should be physically fit, with the ability to work alone and unsupervised. Full training, uniform and PPE will be provided. Experience in working in a similar environment would be beneficial but is not essential.

You will be based at the council’s Brunel Drive Depot in Newark and possessing a clean Category C driving licence and valid Drivers CPC Card and Qualification is essential.

Working past the usual finish time is sometimes required where there is a need in order to provide a full service to residents.
