Westmorland and Furness Council is looking for a professionally qualified and skilled officer who is competent and confident to manage, supervise and support a dedicated team in their increasingly busy and demanding day to day duties and to be responsible for the delivery of investigations, inspections and enforcement of Statutory Nuisance, Drainage, Pest Control, Air Quality, Environmental Permitting, Contaminated Land, Private Water Supplies and Bathing Water Quality issues as part of the Public Protection Team. You will possess robust and up to date knowledge in all of these areas, be able to demonstrate excellent people, performance and resource management skills.
You will be a fully qualified Environmental Health Officer or Registered Environmental Health Practitioner, as lead officer you will also be responsible for the provision of legal and technical advice to the council, companies and individuals on Statutory Nuisance, Drainage, Pest Control, Air Quality, Environmental Permitting, Contaminated Land, Private Water Supplies and Bathing Water Quality issues.
Additional qualifications in Environmental Protection (equivalent to Diploma or above) for example in Acoustics & Noise Control, Air Quality, Environmental Permitting, Private Water Supplies or Contaminated Land, would be an advantage.

As part of this role, there is a requirement for regular travel and so the postholder must be able to drive and have access to a vehicle to use for work/ able to independently travel around the Westmorland and Furness area.
