Job summary

Blackpool Council is seeking an Environmental Protection Officer to join the Public Protection team in Blackpool. You will work to improve environmental standards across the town, investigate issues, and enforce provisions under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

This is a permanent, full-time role (37 hours per week) with a salary of £33,119–£36,581 per year and closing date 22 October 2026. You will engage with residents and businesses to promote high environmental standards and community

Qualifications

• Proven experience within environmental protection or a related enforcement role.
• Solid knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and associated enforcement powers.
• A strong team player who works collaboratively with colleagues and external partners.
• A passionate, proactive individual committed to making a tangible difference to local communities.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a fast-paced, committed team improving environmental conditions across the town.
• Support multi-agency operations aimed at enhancing environmental standards and community wellbeing.
• Use your expertise in the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and related legislation to take appropriate action and deliver positive outcomes.
• Carry out investigations, inspections, and enforcement activities to address issues affecting local environmental quality.
