Environmental Officer – Join a Leading Manufacturer Driving Sustainability

Are you a seasoned Environmental professional with a passion for compliance, sustainability, and continuous improvement? A well-established industrial business is looking for an experienced Environmental Officer to lead its environmental management initiatives and uphold its ISO 14001 accreditation.

Why This Environmental Officer Role?
  • ISO 14001 Frontline Leadership: You will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the company’s ISO 14001 accreditation.
  • Impact and Influence: Advise the senior management team on legislation, shape environmental policy, and lead key audits.
  • Broad Scope: From risk assessments and effluent treatment to waste management and regulatory compliance, no two days are the same.
  • Autonomy and Support: Report directly to the Director of Quality with the opportunity to shape best practices across multiple sites.
  • Team Leadership: Direct reports include effluent supervisors; you’ll also support site leads and plant managers.
What You’ll Need as Environmental Officer
  • ISO 14001 expertise – You must have hands-on experience implementing, managing, and auditing against ISO 14001.
  • A proactive, systems-based mindset with a strong grasp of environmental legislation (EA, REACH, CCLA, etc.)
  • Confidence in liaising with regulatory bodies such as the Environment Agency and local authorities
  • Experience in industrial/manufacturing environments – ideally surface engineering or chemical processing
  • Strong communication, leadership, and policy-writing skills
Your Key Responsibilities as Environmental Officer
  • Maintain ISO 14001 accreditation and conduct internal audits
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits, discharge consents, and regulatory standards
  • Manage waste processes (hazardous and non-hazardous) across multiple sites
  • Lead environmental incident investigations and preventative strategies
  • Deliver training and inductions across departments
  • Collaborate with H&S and Quality departments on integrated risk strategies
  • Monitor KPIs such as spills, breaches, near-misses, and audit findings
