COMPANY DESCRIPTION, PROFILE AND SCOPE OF ROLE: Accounts Assistant

Our client is a world-class, multi award-winning, well-established manufacturing business, with strong and sustained investments in people, capital, and plant. They produce specialist materials and are acknowledged as an international leader in size and technical capabilities.

The successful candidate will work alongside the Health & Safety Manager and will also provide assistance to HR on related matters. You will actively manage the Environmental function.

You must hold either a professional Environmental Management Qualification such as an IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management or a NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management. Alternatively, you should be qualified to degree level in a Scientific Discipline and possess experience in essential areas such as waste regulations, EA permit compliance, Trade effluent consent, REACH, ISO14001, ISO 50001, Climate Change Agreement, and packaging obligation reporting.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Accounts Assistant - Manufacturing

ENSURE COMPLIANCE WITH ALL SITE PERMITS AND PERMISSIONS:

  • Environmental Permit regulated by the Environment Agency
  • Trade Effluent - Consent to Discharge
  • REACH authorization and re-application related to Chemical Management
  • Climate Change Agreement
  • Packaging Obligation reporting
  • Other miscellaneous permits
  • Maintain waste duty of care at the Factory

OWNERSHIP OF ISO14001 AND ISO50001 MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

  • Implement and maintain ISO14001
  • Implement and maintain ISO50001 as co-manager with the Engineering and Maintenance Manager
  • Support audits for other Management Systems (ISO45001 & ISO9001)
  • Stand in for the H&S Manager during absence
  • Design & deliver Environmental Training programmes for employees
  • Maintain Emergency preparedness, spill response, and reporting regimes as part of ISO14001
  • Complete 5S/pollution prevention audits monthly in line with Change Management

CHEMICAL MANAGEMENT

  • Manage process chemicals, including:
  • Coordinate solvent management with the High-Performance Team
  • Troubleshoot solvent consumption and emission issues
  • Work with Process Operators and Engineering on solvent capture
  • Record and improve solvent consumption data
  • Manage carbon media testing and liaise with Engineering and Corporate
  • Analyze data during troubleshooting
  • Record and analyze data daily, monthly, and yearly

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Experience managing the Environmental function within a manufacturing environment
  • Hold a professional Environmental Management Qualification (IEMA Certificate or NEBOSH Diploma) or a degree in a Scientific Discipline with relevant experience in waste regs, EA permit compliance, Trade effluent consent, REACH, ISO14001, ISO50001, Climate Change Agreement, and packaging reporting
  • Ideally hold a Professional Safety Qualification

Package Details:

£50,000 to £55,000 + Bonus (up to £2,000 PA) + Benefits (including life assurance). Hours: 8am - 5pm, Monday to Friday (1-hour lunch break).
