Job description

About The Role

Be Part of Something New: Environmental Manager – enfinium Kelvin (West Bromwich)

Do you want to make a real impact on the UK’s journey to net zero—and help shape the environmental future of a brand-new energy facility?

We’re looking for an Environmental Manager to join us at enfinium Kelvin, our new waste-to-energy plant currently under construction in West Bromwich. Due to open in 2026, Kelvin will transform hundreds of thousands of tonnes of residual waste into homegrown energy, helping power homes and businesses while reducing landfill and carbon emissions.

This is a rare opportunity to be part of the site’s journey from the ground up. You’ll play a pivotal role in supporting Kelvin through commissioning, permitting, and environmental readiness, ensuring that when the plant goes live, it does so to the highest environmental standards.

Working closely with the Plant Manager, Project team, and wider SHEQ function, you’ll lead on all things environmental—guiding the transition from construction to day-to-day operation and establishing a culture of compliance and sustainability from day one.

What you’ll be doing
  1. Take the lead on environmental compliance and preparedness as Kelvin moves through commissioning into full operations.

  2. Develop, implement and manage the Environmental Management System (EMS), including policies, procedures, audits, and supporting documentation.

  3. Drive the site’s environmental monitoring programme, ensuring all Environmental Permit conditions and legal obligations are met from the moment the facility becomes operational.

  4. Produce and submit monthly, quarterly and annual environmental and ESG reports, working closely with the SHEQ and project teams.

  5. Oversee key regulatory monitoring and performance activities such as CEMS (QAL2, QAL3, AST), extractive sampling, IBA management, and water discharge controls.

  6. Provide technical support and contractor oversight on boiler water and steam chemistry, ensuring performance standards are upheld from day one.

  7. Act as a key contact for external stakeholders, including the Environment Agency, local council and contractors—helping to build trusted relationships and a strong environmental reputation for Kelvin.

What you’ll bring
  1. A degree or equivalent experience in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related field.

  2. Solid experience in an environmental compliance, monitoring or regulatory role, ideally within the energy-from-waste, power generation, or industrial operations sectors.

  3. Confidence in regulatory engagement and communicating technical topics to a wide range of stakeholders.
