We would like to hear from applicants from the Midlands Region (Birmingham, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Chesterfield and surrounding areas)

We're looking for someone who understands how planning conditions, environmental commitments, and regulatory requirements translate into real-world construction activities. You'll play a key role in ensuring projects remain compliant while supporting successful delivery on site.

The Role

Working alongside project managers, contractors, planners, and technical specialists, you will provide environmental leadership across a range of development and construction projects.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing environmental compliance throughout the construction phase of projects.
  • Ensuring planning conditions, environmental management plans, permits, and consent requirements are effectively implemented on site.
  • Providing practical environmental advice to project teams and contractors.
  • Monitoring environmental performance and identifying opportunities for continual improvement.
  • Leading environmental audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
  • Investigating environmental incidents and supporting the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Liaising with regulatory bodies, clients, contractors, and internal technical specialists.
  • Promoting a positive culture of environmental responsibility and best practice across projects.
About You

You will have experience of supporting developments once planning consent has been obtained and understand the challenges associated with delivering environmentally compliant construction projects.

We're particularly interested in candidates with:
  • Significant environmental management experience within construction, infrastructure, utilities, energy, or major development projects.
  • Strong knowledge of post-planning environmental obligations, planning conditions, and construction-phase compliance.
  • Understanding of environmental disciplines such as ecology, archaeology, noise, water management, flood risk, contamination, and pollution prevention.
  • Experience working on active construction sites and engaging with contractors and site teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The confidence to influence decision-making and provide clear environmental guidance.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the Midlands region.
Desirable
  • IEMA membership (Practitioner, Associate, Full Member, or Chartered).
  • Environmental auditing qualifications.
  • CSCS card.
What We Offer
  • Salary Circa £35,000 - £45,000 per annum
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
