SCINERGY Recruitment are recruiting an Environmental, Health & Safety Manager to join a new Energy from Waste power station in the West Midlands. Progressing through final construction and commissioning, the site will process ~395,000 tonnes of waste and generate ~44MW of electricity, creating a pivotal leadership role to establish HSE systems and embed a strong safety culture from the outset.

The role requires deep HSE expertise in regulated environments, NEBOSH or equivalent qualifications,

Qualifikationen

• Experience in a similar HSE role in energy from waste or regulated environments
• NEBOSH qualification or degree or equivalent
• Experience managing Environmental Permit requirements and regulatory compliance
• Strong knowledge of HSE management systems and ISO standards
• Experience conducting audits and incident investigations
• Ability to understand engineering and operational risks in a power generation facility
• Strong leadership and communication skills with ability to embed a positive safety culture
• Knowledge of CEMS or water treatment would be advantageous

Aufgaben

• Manage and maintain the site HSE management systems
• Promote a positive safety culture and embed behavioural safety across the facility
• Ensure compliance with Environmental Permit and all regulatory reporting requirements
• Manage environmental monitoring programmes (CEMS, QAL2, QAL3, AST, water)
• Support Safe Systems of Work and Permit to Work procedures
• Conduct site inspections, internal audits and external facility audits
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual HSE, ESG and KPI reports
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses with root-cause analysis and corrective actions
• Liaise with Environment Agency and local authorities
• Review operational and environmental data to identify trends and potential plant defects
• Ensure compliance with company policies and ISO standards

Environmental, Health & Safety Manager New Build Energy from Waste

SCINERGY Recruitment are recruiting for an Environmental, Health & Safety Manager to join a new Energy from Waste power station in the West Midlands.

Currently progressing through the final stages of construction and commissioning, the facility will process approximately 395,000 tonnes of non–recyclable waste each year and generate 44MW of electricity enough to power more than 95,000 homes.

This is an excellent opportunity to join the site before it becomes fully operational, helping to establish the HSE systems, build the team and shape a positive health, safety and environmental culture from the outset.

The role will involve:

• Managing and maintaining the site s Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems
• Promoting a positive safety culture and embedding behavioural safety across the facility
• Ensuring compliance with the Environmental Permit and all associated regulatory reporting requirements
• Managing environmental monitoring programmes, including CEMS, QAL2, QAL3, AST, extractive monitoring and water discharge requirements
• Supporting the management of Safe Systems of Work and Permit to Work procedures
• Conducting site inspections, internal audits and external facility audits
• Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual HSE, ESG and KPI reports
• Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses, completing root–cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
• Liaising with external bodies, including the Environment Agency and local authorities
• Reviewing operational and environmental data to identify trends, risks and potential plant defects
• Ensuring compliance with company policies, environmental obligations and relevant ISO standards

To be considered for this role, you should have:

• Experience in a similar HSE role within Energy from Waste, power generation or another highly regulated process environment – paper production, cement, steel, chemical production
• A relevant health and safety or environmental qualification, ideally NEBOSH, a degree or equivalent professional experience
• Experience managing Environmental Permit requirements and regulatory compliance
• Strong knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems and ISO standards
• Experience conducting audits, inspections and incident investigations
• The ability to understand the engineering and operational risks associated with a power generation facility
• Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to embed a positive safety culture
• Knowledge of CEMS, emissions monitoring or boiler water treatment would be advantageous
