Job summary

VolkerWessels UK is seeking an Environmental Manager for the VolkerFitzpatrick business to drive environmental compliance on Strategic Projects. You will ensure adherence to legislation and corporate requirements, promote pollution prevention, waste reduction and biodiversity protection across sites, and support the EMS development and audits.

Qualifications

IEMA Associate member and CEnv designation are essential qualifications.
Qualified internal environmental auditor; Lead Auditor status is beneficial.
Understanding of BS EN ISO 14001:2004/2015 and surveillance visits.
Affiliate member of CIWM.
Strong knowledge of current and pending environmental legislation.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with Environmental legislation and corporate requirements.
Drive pollution prevention, waste reduction and biodiversity protection across projects.
Raise environmental awareness and coordinate internal planning meetings, inspections and audits.
Develop and maintain the Environmental Management System (EMS).

Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Environmental Manager to join our VolkerFitzpatrick business, working on our projects for our Strategic Projects division.

You will play a key role in ensuring the business meets all Environmental legislation and corporate requirements, driving pollution prevention, waste reduction, and biodiversity protection.

You will help raise environmental awareness across the business, coordinate internal planning meetings, inspections and audits, and support the development and maintenance of our Environmental Management System (EMS).

About You

Relevant experience in Civils works.
An Associate member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv).
A qualified internal environmental auditor with demonstrable experience of completing internal audits. Lead Auditor status beneficial but not essential.
An understanding of the requirements of BS EN ISO 14001:2004/2015 and experience in facilitating registration surveillance visits.
An Affiliate member of the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM).
A working knowledge of current and impending environmental legislation.
Self-confidence to build strong working relationships internally and externally.
