About the Opportunity

Our Nuclear Power Programmes support major UK and European projects, including the Hinkley Point C (a new power station in the South West), Sizewell C (in the South East), and initiatives in SMR (Small Modular Reactor) technology and Poland's first nuclear power station.

We deliver project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle, focusing on safety, high quality, and timely delivery through innovative thinking and collaboration.

We are seeking an Environmental Lead to join the Commissioning team on one of the UK’s most exciting and challenging projects within EDF. At Hinkley Point C, we are constructing the first of a new generation of nuclear power stations, providing low-carbon electricity for approximately six million homes.

As an Environmental Lead, you will support the Commissioning Delivery Team to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits, licenses, and consents. You will advise the team on environmental protection, collaborate with Site Environment and Tier 1 Partners, and support environmental performance improvements. Your key responsibilities include:

  1. Conducting site inspections of commissioning work areas and reporting environmental issues as needed.
  2. Providing advice on environmental legislation, permits, and planning constraints.
  3. Collaborating with site and Bristol-based environment teams to ensure compliance and substantiation of environmental protection measures.
  4. Gathering and analyzing environmental performance data.
  5. Reviewing and ensuring the compliance of the Environmental Management Plan.
  6. Delivering environmental training to technicians and engineers.
  7. Supporting self-assessment and internal audits to ensure regulatory and procedural compliance.
What You'll Need
  1. Experience in environmental management within a construction, commissioning, or industrial project (site-based).
  2. Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation relevant to construction or industrial installations, including industry best practices.
  3. Ability to work independently with excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
  4. Degree or equivalent in environmental, engineering, or science disciplines.
  5. Experience with environmental management systems conforming to BS EN ISO 14001:2015.
  6. Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Experience in nuclear or high-hazard industries is advantageous.
  8. Awareness of client/contractor relationships and legal responsibilities under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 is desirable.
