Job summary

Inspired Selection is seeking a proactive Journals Commissioning Editor for a leading not-for-profit scholarly publisher in environmental sciences. The role is hybrid, with two days in the London office and three from home, reporting to the Head of Journals.

You will shape content across 12 journals, drive Special Issues, and oversee the manuscript transfer desk while engaging researchers and editors globally.

Qualifications

• Specialist knowledge in water sciences or related field per role description.
• Experience in academic journal publishing and open access concepts.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Commission new journal content and manage commissioning targets.
• Lead Special Issues from proposal to publication.
• Provide author-focused service throughout submission and transfer processes.
• Maintain manuscript referral and transfer networks across journals.
• Collaborate with internal teams (Books, Marketing, Production) and editors.
