An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Public Protection Service for an enthusiastic individual to join the Housing Standards and Pollution Team. The team deals with a broad range of Private Sector Housing, statutory nuisance, Air Quality and Environmental Protection/Public Health service requests.

Working as part of a busy team you will need to have a flexible approach to service delivery to meet your personal objectives and the performance standards of the wider team. Your role will, in the main, be to respond to service requests from local constituents concerned about public health issues emanating from accumulations of waste, noxious matter, drainage problems, overgrown land, securing open premises and preventing the recurrence of rodent/pest related infestations (working closely with the Council’s Pest Control contractor); providing advice and assistance and undertaking enforcement action and arranging works in default in accordance the Council’s enforcement policy.

You will require excellent verbal and written communication skills, good time management and enjoy being part of a busy team. ICT equipment is provided to allow for agile and flexible working for a combination of office and home working. Access to a vehicle is essential and the position carries and approved car user allowance.
