Job description

Buckingham Futures are working in partnership with a local authority in South West England who are seeking an experienced and qualified Environmental Health Officer / Private Sector Housing Officer for an interim assignment.

Working Pattern: Hybrid – minimum 3 days on-site per week

This is a front-line role supporting a busy and dedicated Private Sector Housing Team while the current post holder is on long-term sick leave.

Key Responsibilities:

• Investigating complaints relating to:
  • Damp and mould
  • Disrepair
  • Waste accumulation
• Enforcing Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES)
• Bringing long-term empty properties back into use
• Working with landlords and tenants to improve standards in the private rented sector
• (Desirable) Administering Disabled Facilities Grants
• (Desirable) Using Uniform software

Requirements:

• Strong knowledge and experience in private sector housing enforcement
• Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent investigative, communication, and case management skills.
