Environmental Health Practitioner

Grade 9-11; Salary £41,442-£47,532 plus 10% market supplement (subject to approval).

Full-time 36 hours per week, flexible hybrid position

We are looking to recruit an Environmental Health Practitioner to work in the fast paced and dynamic environment of Croydon's Food and Safety Team.

We welcome applications from self motivated and ambitious individuals who will be part of a high performing team that ensures commercial business and public events throughout the borough meet the highest possible standards. Croydon has often been described as a "City within a City" a vibrant Borough located in South London, with more than 3000 food premises, a diverse population of around 392 000, and lots of environmental health challenges. It is also home to some of the most beautiful green spaces in London.

The successful candidates must hold a BSc or MSc in Environmental Health or the Higher Certificate in Food Control. They must also possess excellent oral and written communication skills, have experience of food safety, health and safety and public safety inspections or investigations and demonstrate an understanding how food safety and health and safety law is applied to businesses throughout our the borough. Although we are ideally looking for a candidate who can hit the ground running, we would also welcome applications from newly qualified candidates.

Like many local authorities, Croydon operates a hybrid working system with a mixture of office and homeworking. You will hold a full driving licence and be able to provide you own car. You will be required to work on a flexible basis which will include some evenings and weekends.
