The job

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Environmental Health team within ‘Place Services’ for an Environmental Health Practitioner (Environmental Protection). The successful applicant will be a part of a team of 10, supporting Harts front line Environmental Health services.

Working within Harts Environmental protection team covering a diverse range of case responsibilities including; noise and statutory nuisance investigations, public health complaints, Environmental Permitting, Local Air Quality Management, animal welfare licensing, contaminated land, planning and licensing consultations.

You will be working alongside dedicated colleagues helping ensure best practice within a small team, through the development of focused systems, and innovative working.

Helping secure high standards of service delivery and positive outcomes for our residents and businesses.

The applicant

The applicant will have:

A degree in Environmental Health or equivalent. E.H.O.R.B registration, or equivalent Detailed knowledge and understanding of legislation, policy, guidance and best practice relevant to service functions Ability to lead, motivate and inspire the confidence of others Post qualification experience of Environmental Protection regulation and enforcement, ideally within local government. Be committed to providing high quality customer service.

The key responsibilities for the role of Environmental Health Practitioner (Environmental Protection) are as follows:

To inspect premises in accordance with programmes of work and good practice To identify breaches of legislation and take timely and proportionate action Help deliver core Environmental Protection functions within the team in accordance with the service plan and key performance indicators. To be an experienced Environmental Health professional, providing high quality technical advice to the team, and handling complex service requests. To represent the Council at appropriate external meetingsandevents, working groups and advisory bodies at local,regionaland national levels as may be required To help deliver continuous service improvements, challenging existing practice, and actively seeking ways of achieving greater outcomes. To maintain a current and effective knowledge of all relevant legislation; to provide expert advice; and to assist in developing policies and strategies in relation in coreservice areas. To work closely with stake holders, including external agencies and service users, to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. Provide a high-quality service for our residents, staff, managers, and external partners.
