Job summary

Bradford Council is seeking an Environmental Health Officer (EHO) or Trainee EHO to join its Housing Operations service in Bradford. The role involves enforcing housing standards, assessing properties, and using a full range of enforcement powers to secure suitable living conditions for residents.

You will inspect premises, issue notices, and engage in prosecutions where necessary while collaborating with other council teams to ensure safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent diploma is required.
• Registration with EHORB or CIEH is required or pending for Trainee.
• Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner status or registration is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Inspect properties under Housing Act 2004 and related regulations.
• Issue Civil Penalty Notices and attend prosecutions/hearings.
• Undertake default works and exercise warrants as needed.
• Ensure compliance with Energy Efficiency and Electrical Safety regulations.
• Work with other departments and partners to safeguard residents.
