Location: Gloucestershire
Contract: Initial 3 months (potential for extension)
Hours: Full-time (37 hours per week) with flexible hybrid working
Rate: £42-£45 per hour

About the Role:

Are you an experienced Environmental Health Officer looking to progress your career in Private Sector Housing? A Local Authority in the Gloucestershire is seeking enthusiastic EHOs to join their dedicated Housing Team. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in a supportive environment while working on a range of housing enforcement and licensing duties.

What You’ll Be Doing:

You’ll play a key role in improving housing conditions by:

  • Conducting HMO licensing inspections and ensuring compliance.
  • Supporting enforcement action, including issuing notices and preparing cases.
  • Investigating housing disrepair complaints and working with landlords to resolve issues.
  • Gaining hands-on experience in legal proceedings, including tribunal representation.
  • Learning from experienced officers while developing your own caseload.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A degree in Environmental Health (or equivalent).
  • HHSRS (Housing Health & Safety Rating System) certification.
  • A proactive and eager-to-learn approach, with an interest in housing enforcement.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
