Sharper Consulting Services is seeking a competent and experienced Food Safety Officer to join our London client's Public Protection team on an interim basis. The role focuses on delivering statutory food hygiene functions during a period of organisational transition, requiring an officer who can hit the ground running.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out programmed food hygiene inspections in accordance with the Food Law Code of Practice (risk categories A-E).
  • Respond to service requests, including complaints about food premises, hygiene standards, and alleged food poisoning.
  • Undertake enforcement activity, including the service of notices, closures, and evidence gathering for legal proceedings where appropriate.
  • Provide clear advice and guidance to businesses and stakeholders to support legal compliance.
  • Input into the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS), including revisits and appeals.
  • Liaise effectively with internal departments and external agencies.
Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health.
  • EHRB Certificate or equivalent FLCOP-compliant competency to undertake food hygiene inspections.
  • Up-to-date CPD and inspection competency logs.
  • Strong understanding of food law, enforcement protocols, and local authority procedures.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage workload effectively.
