Buckingham Futures have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Health Officer/Environmental Protection Officerto join a local authority in Sussex. This role is to start ASAP on aninitial 3-months contract, with a strong potential for extension.

We’re keen to hear from professionals with experience in Environmental Protection, Food Safety or ideally both. If you have a strong interest in either area, the client is open to considering splitting the role accordingly.

Key Areas of Work/Responsibilities: Environmental Protection Working in a multidisciplinary team covering air quality, land contamination, permitting, and acoustics Responding to noise and nuisance complaints from commercial and industrial sources Reviewing contamination reports, commenting on planning applications, and providing pollution control advice

Food Safety Inspecting low-risk food businesses (Categories C and E) Conducting food hygiene and food standards inspections Managing related enforcement activities A minimum of 2 years post-qualification food safety experience is required Requirements: Degree, Diploma, or MSc in Environmental Health Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle Strong communication, organisation, and the ability to work independently This is a fantastic opportunity to support essential public health services while gaining valuable cross-disciplinary experience.
