A recruitment agency is seeking interim Environmental Health and Protection Officers in the West Midlands. Environmental Health Officer / Environmental Protection Officer (Interim)
Location: West Midlands Based – Office-based initially, then hybrid
Duration: 3-month contract (with potential extension)
Start Date: ASAP
Rate: Per hour negotiable (Inside IR35, via umbrella)
Venn Group are supporting the recruitment of interim Environmental Health and Environmental Protection Officers to support the delivery of key regulatory services. Both roles involve inspections, complaint investigations, and enforcement activity, contributing to the safety and wellbeing of the local community.
• Investigate complaints, service requests, and environmental incidents
• Carry out inspections in areas such as housing, food safety, pollution, nuisance, and public health
• Enforce relevant legislation and initiate enforcement action where necessary
• Represent the service with external partners and at court, when required
• Maintain accurate records and case data using systems such as Civica APP/Flare
• Deliver health promotion campaigns and provide advice to the public
• Contribute to environmental health strategies and respond to consultation requests
Key Requirements:
• EHRB registration (or working towards it)
• Experience in environmental health enforcement and regulatory functions
• Excellent case management, reporting, and communication skills
• Full UK driving licence
• Basic DBS required
• Desirable: experience with monitoring equipment or legal proceedings
• Respond to environmental protection complaints and conduct investigations
• Support enforcement of legislation relating to noise, nuisance, air quality, and pollution
• Carry out surveys and inspections to assess environmental issues
• Advise the public and stakeholders on relevant environmental legislation
• Collect and maintain accurate data and contribute to case preparation
• Work collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies
• Provide evidence for legal processes and attend court when necessary
Key Requirements:
• Experience in environmental protection or a related regulatory field
• Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and enforcement procedures
• Excellent organisational, communication, and investigative skills
• Full UK driving licence
• Basic DBS required
