Hertsmere Borough Council is looking for an 'Environmental Health Manager' to lead their Commercial Environmental Health services. This permanent role involves overseeing key public health initiatives while ensuring high-quality, cost-effective services, stakeholder engagement, and strategic direction within the service group.

£48,713 - £55,352 (depending on experience) with performance related
progression to £60,887 Plus £1,433 car allowance.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic manager to lead our Commercial Environmental Health services at Hertsmere Borough Council. This senior role oversees a diverse portfolio including food safety, health and safety, public health and the Disabled Facilities Grants service. You will be a professionally qualified Environmental Health Practitioner with full corporate membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and experience in managing front line services.
You will drive service improvement, lead multidisciplinary teams, and play a key role in shaping policy, performance, and strategic direction within the Environmental Health, Licensing & Resilience Service Group.
As a key member of the senior management team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, cost-effective services in line with corporate and legal objectives. This includes budget management, performance monitoring, staff development, and stakeholder engagement. The role also involves representing the council at regional forums, managing emergency planning responsibilities, and deputising for the Head of Service when required.
The post is offered on a permanent, full time basis (36 hours per week).
