Job description

Buckingham Futures have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Health Officer to join a local authority in Leicestershire , starting ASAP on an initial 3-month contract with strong potential for extension.

• To support all Environmental Health and Licensing staff in the effective delivery of services, offering coaching, support, mentoring, guidance and training as necessary.
• Respond to and investigate complaints, undertake risk-based inspections using assistive equipment where necessary and revisit where necessary to ensure compliance.
• Implement informal and statutory action when necessary to resolve pollution and public health issues, including gathering and presenting evidence in courts as an expert witness.
• Secure compliance with legislation in accordance with the Council’s enforcement policies. Prepare and serve legal notices, within the scope of the Officer authorisation, and provide further evidence in support of legal proceedings.
• Give advice on environmental health issues to businesses, organisations and members of the public.
