A local government body is seeking an enthusiastic Environmental Health Graduate to join the Business Team within Regulatory Services. This role involves providing guidance to businesses, conducting inspections, and contributing to public protection efforts. The position offers a salary of £28,624 - £31,586 per annum with flexible working options. Ideal candidates are passionate about Environmental Health and possess strong communication skills.

Your role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Health Graduate to join the Business Team within Regulatory Services at Wigan Council.
Greater Manchester's public protection teams have secured continued funding to continue to build and develop Greater Manchester Business Compliance Support (follow this link for further details about this service: www.gmbcs.co.uk). Its aim is to help businesses comply and thrive and will focus on the key regulatory areas of environmental health, trading standards and licensing. For two days a week you will work alongside eight other new officers to provide support and guidance to businesses across Greater Manchester.
Your role will involve proactively contacting and providing a signposting service for new and existing businesses to help them navigate their compliance issues and questions.
During the course of this 12-month fixed-term contract, we will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside our dedicated, experienced and knowledgeable officers, gaining valuable experience inspecting businesses, carrying out investigations, implementing and assisting with operational activities. Over the course of the contract you will be provided with the time required to register and complete the Charted Institute of Environmental Health professional portfolio.

The ideal candidate will be passionate and enthusiastic about public protection. You will be eager to contribute and keen to develop your career in Environmental Health.
You will possess excellent communication skills and open to meeting and speaking to people from a range of different backgrounds including residents and businesses providing advice and guidance.
You will be flexible and willing to undertake work outside of normal office hours to meet service needs and gain valuable experience.
