Job summary

NUVIA UK, a VINCI subsidiary, seeks an Environmental Engineer to support the JDR decommissioning programme with expert environmental guidance and regulatory compliance across the life cycle.

Responsibilities include developing Environmental Management Strategy, embedding BAT/ENVID processes, and creating Environment Case documentation while coordinating with Safety Case teams and contractors in a hybrid UK role.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject (environmental and/or engineering preferred).
• In-depth knowledge of ISO14001 Environmental Management System and certification processes.
• Experience embedding environmental requirements into engineering design and execution.
• Knowledge of BAT and ENVID methodologies and radiation requirements under Environment Agency permits.
• Extensive experience in environmental engineering within large, complex programmes.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on the JDR decommissioning strategy and environmental benefits.
• Develop and maintain the Environmental Management Strategy for assigned projects.
• Ensure compliance with technical processes during pre-construction and construction phases.
• Author environmental documents such as Regulatory Interface Arrangements and Carbon Management Strategy.
• Lead the development of the Environment Case for design and decommissioning activities.
• Define scope and procurement strategy for outsourced environmental studies.
• Embed environmental requirements into engineering through BAT workshops and ENVID processes.
• Identify and mitigate environmental risks and escalate to senior leadership.
• Collaborate with contractors and facility managers to ensure safe, compliant execution.
