Job summary

NUVIA UK is seeking an environmentally focused engineer to lead the development of the Environment Case and embed sustainability into plant design across a multi-disciplinary, high-hazard environment. The role requires deep knowledge of environmental legislation and proven BAT/ENVID application.

The successful candidate will drive environmental risk assessment, modelling, and regulatory submissions while coordinating with IPTs and safety teams within a hybrid UK-based setting.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering environmental engineering activities within large, complex programmes.
• Expert knowledge of environmental legislation and standards.
• Proven application of BAT and ENVID methodologies.
• Ability to operate within a multi-disciplinary, high-hazard engineering environment.
• Experience in emergent or first-of-a-kind design environments is valuable.

Responsibilities

• Resolve environmental interfaces and trade-offs across engineering disciplines and delivery teams.
• Provide training and capability development on environmental legislation and requirements.

Description of the assignment

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday

Location: Candidates can be based at either of the below sites on a hybrid basis - 3 days per week site/office presence as a minimum.

Required Outcomes

• A coherent and regulator-ready Environment Case aligned with the STEP design and Safety Case. Clear definition and implementation of environmental and sustainability strategies.
• Environmental requirements embedded within the engineering design, decision-making and delivery process
• Robust assessments, models, and inventories covering noise, air quality, watercourses, waste, emissions, and other relevant environmental impacts.
• Effective management of environmental risks and mitigation measures across programmes.
• Progressive validation of environmental data, impacts and commitments as the design matures.

Scope of Services

The service should provide specialist input to design, assessment, regulatory submissions, and programme delivery activities, operating closely with safety, engineering, and Integrated Project Teams (IPTs).

• Experience in emergent or first-of-a-kind design environments would be particularly valuable.
