Are you an experienced Environmental Engineer?

Do you consider yourself to be hands-on, proactive, and an asset to a busy site-based team? Are you based in or around Hartlepool (TS25)?

We have an exciting Environmental Engineer role available within Tata Steel, based at their Hartlepool site. This opportunity is ideal for someone with a strong technical background, excellent knowledge of environmental compliance, and a practical approach to driving on-site improvements.

Role: Environmental Engineer

Location: Hartlepool, TS25

Rate: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum + benefits

Contract length: Permanent

Shift Patterns: Monday to Friday (standard daytime hours)

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the site's primary point of contact for environmental compliance and improvements
  • Ensure the site meets all legal obligations and permit requirements
  • Monitor and report on air quality, emissions, water, and waste
  • Conduct site audits and follow up on corrective actions
  • Liaise with the Environment Agency and internal stakeholders
  • Contribute to risk assessments and support incident investigations
  • Assist with the delivery of environmental improvement projects

Essential requirements:

  • A degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline
  • Strong understanding of UK environmental legislation and compliance
  • Organised and proactive with a practical approach to work
  • Able to work independently and confidently communicate with all levels
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

Desirable requirements:

  • Experience working with ISO 14001
  • Familiarity with Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR)
  • Previous engagement with the Environment Agency
  • Driving licence and use of a car
