Job summary

Kingdom is recruiting Environmental Enforcement Officers to work with Chichester District Council on environmental crime prevention across the district. This is a varied outdoor role dealing with enforcement actions when required and engaging with residents and businesses to promote compliance.

The position involves patrolling areas, gathering evidence, issuing penalties, and preparing reports, with a customer-focused approach and the ability to work weekends.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Issue Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) for environmental offences.
• Patrol public areas to identify offences.
• Enforce littering, fly-tipping, graffiti, dog fouling and waste regulations.
• Investigate incidents and gather evidence
• Respond to reports and complaints from the public
• Maintain records and prepare reports
• Support enforcement actions and legal proceedings where needed
• Educate residents and businesses to encourage compliance
• Represent Kingdom and the Council professionally

Environmental Enforcement Officer

Location: Chichester District Council, East Pallant House, Chichester, West Sussex, PO19 1TY
Pay: £13.45 per hour | Weekly Pay
Hours: 40 + Hours per week
Shifts: 5 days per week (including weekends) between 06:00 and 20:00
Contract: Flexible / Temporary

Kingdom is recruiting Environmental Enforcement Officers to work in partnership with Chichester District Council, helping to tackle environmental crime and maintain clean, safe public spaces across the district.

This is a varied, outdoor role where you will engage with the public, investigate environmental offences, and take appropriate enforcement action when required.

What You'll Be Doing

• Issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) for a variety of environmental crime offences
• Patrolling public areas to identify environmental offences
• Enforcing regulations relating to littering, fly-tipping, graffiti, dog fouling, and waste management
• Investigating incidents and gathering evidence
• Responding to reports and complaints from members of the public
• Maintaining accurate records and preparing reports
• Supporting enforcement actions and legal proceedings where required
• Educating residents and businesses to encourage environmental compliance
• Representing Kingdom and the Council in a professional manner at all times

What We're Looking For

• Confident communicator with excellent customer service skills
• Professional, approachable, and able to remain calm in challenging situations
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently
• Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends
• Previous enforcement, security, customer service, or public-facing experience is desirable
