Job summary

Sulzer is seeking an Environmental professional for its UK & Ireland operations based in Leeds to shape and drive the environmental compliance and energy performance agenda across multiple sites.

You will manage ISO 14001 across sites, ensure regulatory compliance, lead energy initiatives and monitor performance to identify improvement opportunities. The role involves site audits, cross-site collaboration, and staying ahead of legislative changes.

Qualifications

• Experience in environmental compliance within manufacturing, engineering or industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation and management systems.
• Proven experience managing or supporting ISO 14001.
• ISEP membership (or working towards it).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• The confidence to challenge, influence and drive improvements across multiple sites.
• A proactive mindset and passion for sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Manage and continuously improve Sulzer’s ISO 14001 Environmental Management System across UK & Ireland sites.
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits and regulatory requirements.
• Help shape and deliver environmental and energy initiatives that support Sulzer’s sustainability ambitions.
• Conduct audits, assessments and compliance reviews across multiple locations.
• Monitor environmental and energy performance, identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Support carbon reduction, waste minimisation and resource-efficiency projects.
• Investigate environmental incidents and drive corrective actions.
• Partner with site teams, operational leaders and external bodies to embed best practice.
• Keep the business informed of emerging environmental legislation and compliance requirements.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in environmental compliance within manufacturing, engineering or industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation and management systems.

Working Pattern

Based primarily at our Leeds facility, you’ll also travel across Sulzer’s UK & Ireland sites to support environmental and energy initiatives where they matter most. This is not a fully remote role, but we offer a flexible approach to working, including home working where appropriate. Alongside a 37‑hour week, our flexi-time scheme allows you to bank hours and take them back as service leave, giving you greater control how you manage your time.
