Job summary

Detectronic, a UK-based environmental engineering company, is seeking an Environmental Monitoring Assistant to support collection, monitoring, and reporting across our water networks. This entry-level role offers full training and a 37.5-hour week at our Nelson office, Monday to Friday, with 1 learning day.

You will work with analysts and engineers to ensure data accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely reporting, while maintaining dashboards and learning telemetry systems.

Qualifications

• GCSEs / A-Levels or equivalent (science, geography, maths, or IT).
• Relevant qualification or study in environmental science, geography, engineering, or data.
• Basic understanding of environmental or water-related data.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to travel to and from Burnley daily.

Responsibilities

• Support monitoring of environmental data from sensors and monitoring systems (level, flow, rainfall, water quality).
• Check incoming data for completeness, accuracy, and anomalies.
• Assist with basic data analysis and reporting.
• Help maintain dashboards and routine performance reports.
• Learn how monitoring equipment and telemetry systems work (training provided).
• Work closely with analysts, engineers, and operations teams.
