Contract Type: 12-month contract (subject to change if a permanent hire is made)

Day Rate: £187.92/day PAY

Location:

Exeter or Bristol (flexible/hybrid working available)

About the Role:

Join our client delivering key services under the National Highways £3.6bn Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF). You'll support environmentally sustainable design and compliance across highway and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct environmental assessments and site inspections.
  • Guide project teams on environmental compliance and best practices.
  • Prepare and check reports, environmental statements, scoping/planning documents, and Section 61 consents.
  • Liaise with statutory bodies (EA, Natural England, Local Authorities).
  • Support planning applications, construction phases, and audits.
  • Assist in environmental risk identification, management, and mitigation.
  • Mentor junior staff and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (structures, drainage, geotechnical, etc.).
  • Participate in bids and work-winning activities.
What You'll Bring:
  • Relevant experience in environmental consultancy, ideally within highways or infrastructure.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK environmental legislation, permitting, and planning.
  • Familiarity with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM).
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency in environmental software/tools.
  • Degree in Environmental Science or a related field.
  • PIEMA (Practitioner IEMA) or equivalent membership preferred.
