Job description

Royal HaskoningDHV is a UK leading marine environmental consultancy, with over 30 years’ experience of supporting our coastal and marine clients. Throughout this period, we have developed a uniquely experienced team of experts, who specialise in the consenting, permitting and licencing for complex coastal and marine infrastructure developments and operations, both within the UK and internationally.

We carried out the first Habitats Regulations Assessment on a major port project in 1994, when the Habitats Regulations were first introduced, and continue to be at the cutting edge of marine consenting including working with Natural England to develop and implement marine Biodiversity Net Gain.

Above all, with a UK Environment team of over 150 staff (amongst a much larger company resource), we are known for adding value and making a positive difference for our clients through a proactive, solution orientated approach, the respect of the regulators, and achieving consent for proposals in and around protected environments.

We have an extensive portfolio of clients across a wide range of sectors and geographical area. Examples of recent projects that we have been involved with include: Holyhead Port Expansion for Stena Line Ports, Portsmouth Harbour Aircraft Carrier Berth and Approach Channel for the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, Bacton Sandscaping Scheme for North Norfolk Council and Leith Outer Berth development for Forth Ports Limited.

Due to an extensive and growing portfolio of marine development work, both within the UK and internationally, we are looking to expand our team and are seeking enthusiastic, optimistic, conscientious and talented people with excellent communication skills and proven technical ability to join our marine team.

If you have a background in the consenting of coastal and marine infrastructure developments and operations, and want to make an immediate and meaningful difference to the development of the marine sector and the Royal HaskoningDHV team then please get in touch.

Job Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, optimistic, conscientious and talented person with good communication skills and technical ability in relation to marine EIA’s and the consenting of marine infrastructure projects. In this role you will assist with the coordination and delivery of environmental assessment projects across our portfolio, as well as managing your own contributions to projects. Your role will involve directly working with clients and representing the company in client offices and at regulator and stakeholder meetings.

This role might be right for you if you have:
  • Experience in the delivery of marine EIAs and the marine consenting process
  • Experience working with a variety of stakeholders, with a particular focus in the marine environment
  • Experience in post-consent project delivery
  • Good understanding of environmental law, the EIA process, UK planning and permitting systems and relevant government policy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organisational, analytical and time management skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Particular experience in Habitats Regulations Assessments, Benthic Ecology or Fish and Shellfish Ecology would be advantageous

And if you are:

  • Dependable, pro-active and self-motivated
  • Flexible and adaptive / innovative
What we can offer you:

Exciting. Lively. Collaborative. Dynamic. Supportive. Friendly. That’s how our colleagues describe our company. The supportive and collaborative environment that Royal HaskoningDHV promote, alongside us being an independent company is what sets us apart from the crowd.

You can look forward to growing your career in a dynamic workplace with development opportunities and support on your career path. We have flexible working models to ensure a balance of family and working life, including part time options.
