Job description

Environmental Consultant ESIA

The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech RPS Energy is adding a Consultant or Senior Environmental Consultant to support our EIA work for our portfolio of high-profile offshore projects internationally. This role will sit in our Marine Consenting and Environment team.

We operate a hybrid working arrangement and you can be based in Chepstow, Edinburgh, Woking, Aberdeen or London (home working can be considered). We have flexible working opportunities, including part time roles, to ensure a balance of family and working life.

We are at the forefront of the industry - delivering offshore infrastructure projects in complex marine environments including offshore wind farm developments. Our experience includes 20 years working across the UK, wider Europe, Americas, Australia and Asia. You'll become a member of a deeply experienced marine consenting and environment team who have been selected as the lead Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA) consultant for some of the industry's major "firsts". These include the world's largest offshore wind farms at the point of being constructed: Orsted's Hornsea One, Two and Three, and Scotland's largest offshore wind farm SSE's Berwick Bank.

Other "firsts" include Australia's first offshore wind project, CIP's Star of the South. We are also providing marine expertise to support Vineyard Wind, the United States' first utility-scale offshore wind energy project and are the ESIA consultant for Firefly, Equinor's first floating offshore wind project in South Korea.

Your Role:
  • Reviewing and assessment of ESIA (Environmental and Social Impact Assessment) projects to national and/or international standards (such as Equator Principles, IFC Performance Standards, and standards of other development banks).
  • Reviewing feasibility studies (FS), benchmarking, environmental and social (E&S) assessments and due diligence under the coordination and supervision of the Principal Consultant ESIA.
  • You will contribute towards the structuring and coordination of ESIAs, baseline surveys and monitoring methods as well as the preparation of E&S management plans (ESMP) and action plans (ESAP).
This role would be suitable if you are at the early stages in your career, as you will have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills with a strong team around you.

Qualifications:
  • You will have experience of EIA for major energy infrastructure projects.
  • Applicants with experience of working in other offshore industries (e.g., Oil & Gas) or onshore energy infrastructure projects would also be welcomed.
  • Experience working with international projects outside of the UK & Ireland.
  • You will have a post-graduate qualification in a relevant environmental discipline.
  • You will be interested in taking on a variety of tasks, as no two days are the same.
  • You will have excellent communication skills, both written and spoken. Fluent written and oral command of English is essential.
