Job summary

Assystem GmbH in Lancashire is seeking a Senior Environmental Consultant to support major infrastructure and construction projects across the region. You will help ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits, licences and consents, while working with project teams and contractors to protect the environment and drive strong environmental performance on site.

The role covers site supervision, ecological surveys, environmental reporting, and governance across projects, including

Responsibilities

• Undertake regular environmental inspections of construction and work areas.
• Identify, record and report environmental issues, providing advice on remedial actions.
• Provide on-site ecological advice and support during construction activities.
• Undertake ecological walkover surveys, assessments and species-specific checks.
• Support the supervision of works taking place within or near sensitive habitats.
• Provide written and verbal advice on environmental legislation, permits, consents and planning constraints.
• Prepare daily site records, compliance reports and ecological monitoring documentation.
• Maintain accurate records of environmental observations and actions.
• Gather, monitor and collate environmental performance information across project activities.
• Support the implementation of initiatives designed to improve environmental performance and minimise environmental impacts.
• Review and update Environmental Management Plans to ensure compliance with legislation and best practice.
• Support planning and coordination of environmental deliverables across projects.
• Liaise with contractors, clients and other stakeholders to ensure environmental requirements are understood and implemented.

• Support internal audits and self-assessments of site activities against applicable legislation, processes, procedures and environmental standards.
• Assist in demonstrating compliance with environmental protection measures and equipment requirements.

Project Support & Stakeholder Engagement

• Support the planning and coordination of environmental deliverables across projects.
• Work closely with senior environmental and ecological specialists to achieve project objectives.
• Liaise with contractors, clients and other stakeholders to ensure environmental requirements are understood and effectively implemented.
• Act as an on-site point of contact for environmental and ecological matters.
