Job summary

Allen & York Ltd in the United Kingdom seeks an Environmental Compliance Site Manager for a large, complex manufacturing facility in Lancaster. You will own environmental permits, regulatory obligations, and drive continuous improvement across site operations.

Reporting to the Site Leadership Team, you will lead maintenance, manage contractors, and develop mid-to-long term plans to enhance environmental performance and operational resilience.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing environmental compliance within a permitted industrial site.
• Strong understanding of environmental permits and regulatory obligations.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Maintenance management experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Experience managing contractors and RAMS processes.
• Understanding of regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental compliance across the site, ensuring adherence to permit conditions and regulatory obligations.
• Identify compliance risks and implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Develop and enhance environmental management processes and systems.
• Provide practical environmental guidance and support to operational teams.
• Manage relationships with regulators, external environmental consultants, and external stakeholders.
• Support environmental audits, inspections, reporting, and monitoring programmes.
• Drive continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System and compliance culture.
• Lead and develop a highly skilled maintenance function, ensuring delivery of a best-in-class preventative maintenance programme.
• Oversee maintenance activities to maximise plant availability and operational efficiency.
• Review and optimise preventative maintenance schedules using downtime analysis and performance data.
