A leading environmental consulting firm is seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Manager to shape and lead environmental policy for a major new defence facility in the UK. Overview

Are you passionate about driving environmental compliance and sustainability in highly regulated industries? This is a unique opportunity to shape and lead environmental policy and compliance for a major new facility in the defence sector.

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Manager to act as the technical expert across environmental strategy, regulation and best practice. You will play a key role in developing and implementing environmental management systems, ensuring compliance with legislation and ISO 14001, you’ll embed sustainability across operations.

This is a greenfield opportunity, you will influence the design and construction phase of a brand-new defence site, before moving into an operational leadership role once the facility is live.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement environmental strategies, policies and compliance frameworks.
  • Act as the technical authority for environmental compliance, advising stakeholders.
  • Lead audits, inspections, and assessments to ensure adherence to standards and legislation.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Collaborate with Estates, Operations, Engineering, Health & Safety and Sustainability teams.
  • Act as primary point of contact with the Environment Agency and other regulatory bodies.
  • Deliver training and awareness programmes to foster a culture of environmental responsibility.
Essential Requirements
  • Career experience in an Environmental Management role, ideally in a complex and high-risk environment.
  • Background in manufacturing, R&D or defence is essential.
  • Ability and willingness to undertake DV level security clearance.
  • NEBOSH or equivalent Environmental qualification (e.g. DiPEnv) highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, regulations and best practices.
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Passion for promoting environmental awareness and training across teams.
